Mica
Mica
What It Is
Mica is a naturally occurring mineral known for its fine, shimmering appearance. Mica can be found in a variety of colors and is commonly used to add color and visual interest to cosmetics, soaps, candles, wax melts, and other handmade products.
Depending on the specific mica, the color may come from naturally occurring minerals or from added pigments.
Why We Use It
We use mica to add beautiful color and subtle visual detail to select handmade products.
It allows us to create the soft, vibrant, and seasonal colors used throughout our collections without changing the fragrance of the product.
What It Does in Our Products
In our wax products, mica is used primarily as a colorant. A small amount is incorporated into the wax to create the desired color and appearance.
Mica does not provide the fragrance. The scent comes from the fragrance blend or other aromatic ingredients used in the individual product.
Our Ingredient Standards
We select micas intended for use in the type of handmade product where they are being used and follow the supplier's recommended usage guidelines.
Because mica is used for color rather than fragrance, the amount used in a finished product is typically very small. We carefully select colors to complement our collections while keeping the focus on the overall quality and appearance of our handmade products.
